What to bring and what you can look forward to!

This camp is all about having fun while learning important public speaking skills in order to prepare students for the Stoa speech and debate league. We want students to be prepared from the moment they walk in the building!

Here is a list of things your students need to make sure they bring:

  • Some form of writing utensil (pen, pencil, etc.)
  • Their bible (for writing an Apologetics card on the first day of camp).
  • A water bottle (nothing but water, please!) and easy to clean snacks, such as granola bars.
  • Their guidebook (which they will be given on the first day of camp).
  • A light jacket, because you never know what our air conditioning power will be.
  • A good attitude! We're going to be doing some speaking activities that help you get the most out of the camp, and you'll need to be willing to participate in them.

Here are some general behavior guidelines for our camp:

  • Respect for all instructors and adults present at Speak Boldly. This means paying attention to instructions and lectures (so leave the cellphones in your bag).
  • Respect for the facility we will be using.
  • Wholesome language and, as stated above, a good attitude.
  • Raising a hand if you have questions or comments, and waiting to be called on. We're anticipating a good crowd and don't want everyone to be shouting over each other!
  • Our dress code is pretty lax, but we would ask there be no clothing that exposes the midriff, cleavage, undergarments (this applies to young men as well) or upper thigh. No, you do not have to wear a suit or business attire (though you can if you want to!)
